Why Study?
written: *a day in senior high*
One of the most common questions that kids and young ones nowadays ask is — Why is there a need to study? And as they go on with their lives as students, they continue to look for answers to satisfy their interrogating minds.
Being a student entails sacrifice. There are times wherein we are to attend a party or a special occasion with some friends at a certain time, yet, an examination is scheduled the next day. There are also instances wherein we slept late to study for a quiz or prepare some paperworks, then the next day, we almost fell asleep on our chairs.
But, again… we are obliged to stay awake and listen attentively and grasp whatever the teacher is trying to impart. One more thing — the projects. Some students consider projects as a burden, physically, mentally, financially and perhaps, socially. However, to those students who has to catch up with their grades, special projects may be a blessing in disguise.
A student’s predicament is to choose between two equally balanced alternatives. We are really caught in a dilemma. Whether to enjoy life fully and indulge oneself to the desires for pleasure or be serious with our studies and forget about all those “extra-curricular activities”. We really can’t tell.
It is difficult to be a student. It requires a lot of perseverance, hardwork and determination.
Since being a student is not an easy task, the people around us must know their roles, which is to motivate us to study well by showing to us its importance through positive ways rather than pressuring us with all those negative thoughts, such as comparing us with the past generations, commenting on how we behave and the likes.
Yes, being a student requires sacrifice. But it is more difficult to NOT study. We got the privilege, let us not waste it.
